Fable Travel Privacy Policy  

At Fable Travel (company registration number 15924478) (“Fable Travel/we/us”) , we are committed to respecting your privacy and to maintaining your trust and confidence.

What is the purpose of this privacy policy?  

At Fable Travel we are serious about protecting your privacy. Your trust is our most important asset. This privacy policy explains what personal data Fable Travel may collect from you and why and what we will do with this data.  

From 25 May 2018, you and your personal data will be protected by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (which is otherwise known as GDPR) and a new UK Data Protection Act 2018. In this privacy notice, we refer to this legislation as data protection laws.  

We will only process your personal data as set out in our privacy policy or otherwise notified to or agreed by you or as we are otherwise permitted to do in accordance with data protection laws.  

 

What is the information that we are collecting?  

Your personal data is anything which can identify you as a person such as: name, date of birth, gender, contact details, payment information, preferences for subscribing to our newsletters and information about what products and services you have ordered or shown interest in. 

How are we collecting this information?  

We collect information about you when you make an enquiry (or booking) for our products and services through e-mail, whatsapp, telephone or from our website, request marketing or other communication from us or subscribe to our e-marketing or social media feeds. 

How do we use this information?  

Mostly, we will use this information about you in order to process your enquiry or booking and to ensure your travel arrangements run smoothly and to the high standard that you would expect from a luxury provider such as Fable Travel.  

This will require us to pass the information on to our trusted suppliers such as (but not limited to) hotels, transport companies, guides, topic experts and activity providers. As well as letting them know about your booking, we will share your name and contact details with them. We will not share sensitive information or your payment details without consent and they cannot contact you directly. 

Where necessary, we may use this information for our legitimate interests or to comply with legal or regulatory requirements. We may need to use your data for another purpose which was not the original purpose but we will only do so if we think it is comparable or secondary to the original purpose. 

We endeavour to take appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and Fable Travel will not share your information for marketing purposes. 

Your data will only be retained for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was required, including our legal, accounting and regulatory requirements. 

 

Is there any other personal information you may collect about me?  

In addition to asking you to submit personal data, we may collect information about you automatically when you visit our website (www.fabletravel.co.uk). The collection of information may involve the use of cookies and web beacons. A web beacon is a small graphic image placed on a web page that is designed to allow us to monitor visitors to our website. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your computer’s hard drive or mobile device by your web browser when you first visit our website. The cookie allows us to identify your computer and find out details about your last visit. Most internet browsers accept cookies automatically, but usually you can alter the settings of your browser to erase cookies or prevent automatic acceptance if you prefer. If you choose not to receive our cookies, we cannot guarantee that your experience with our website will be as quick or responsive as if you do receive cookies.  

The information collected by cookies and web beacons is not personally identifiable, it includes general information about your computer settings, your connection to the internet e.g. operating system and platforms, IP address, your browsing patterns and timings of browsing on our website and your geographical location.  

 

How do we project your personal data?  

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data, which is appropriate to the harm that might result from the unauthorised or unlawful processing or accidental loss, destruction or damage and the nature of the data to be protected having regard to the state of technological development and the cost of implementing any measures.  

 

What are your rights? 
Under the regulations you have various legal rights, including the following. 
You have the right to: 

  • see any data we hold about you free of charge 

  • have inaccuracies in any data held about you corrected 

  • have information erased (and forgotten by us), subject to retaining commercial and accounts information as described above) 

  • prevent direct marketing to you by us 

  • data portability (to be provided with an electronic copy of the data relevant to you) 

  • complain to the regulator (ICO) 

You may request to see the data we hold about you, or instruct us on any of these rights you wish to invoke, by getting in touch via any method on the contact page. We will respond within the month.  
You can also unsubscribe from our mailing list by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom the newsletters or emails that we send you. This will result in your data being automatically erased from the relevant mailing list. 

Marketing 

As part of the registration process for our e-marketing, we collect personal information. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to tell you about great programmes you’ve asked us to tell you about; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; to check our records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses. 

We use a third-party provider, Squarespace, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. Can this privacy policy be changed?  

Yes, from time to time we may need to make changes to this privacy policy. These may be required as a result of changes in data protections laws or in the guidance issued by regulators such as the Information Commissioner’s Office (which is usually referred to as the ICO) or where we make changes to our procedures. The latest version of this privacy policy will be on our website.  

What are your legal rights and what should I do if I want to contact you regarding the processing of my personal data?  

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. We will endeavour to ensure your personal information is accurate and up to date and you may contact us to correct or remove any information you think is inaccurate.
